About This Experience

The official gate opens at 8am. I have a permit for research access from 6am that I extend to small groups. At 6am on the Giza plateau there are no vendors, no touts, no camel rides and no noise. Just three of the oldest large structures ever built, in silence, in the first light of day. I worked as a researcher on this site for eight years and I can show you the astronomical alignments, the quarry marks that are still visible on the casing stones, and the causeway that connected the Pyramid of Khafre to the Nile — which most visitors never find.

Egyptologist and former Ministry of Antiquities researcher. I spent eight years working on excavation sites in Saqqara and Luxor. I now run private tours of the Giza plateau at times when the site is genuinely quiet — before 7am and after 5pm. I will show you things inside the Pyramid of Khafre that most guides walk right past.
