About This Experience
Jaipur's old city is one of the most intact planned cities in Asia — it was built in 1727 to a strict grid and still follows its original layout. Most tours stick to the Amber Fort and City Palace and call it done. I take you through the residential havelis where 300-year-old architecture is still lived-in, through block printing workshops where master craftsmen work the same patterns their great-grandparents did, and to the spice market quarter that smells the same as it did when the Mughal trade routes ran through here.
