About This Experience

Dublin's official tourist history is clean and heroic. The actual history is complicated, violent and fascinating. I'm a secondary school history teacher who has been giving this walk for 10 years. We start at the GPO where the Rising was declared, walk through the nationalist neighbourhoods of the Liberties, and cover the partition, the Civil War, and the modern Troubles through the stories of specific people and specific streets. I don't tell you what to think about any of it. I just make sure you understand what actually happened.
